Green Museum

Working Group of Environmental Sustainability

In February 2021, ICOM Estonia set up an working group for environmental sustainability, headed by Reet Mägi, head of the Department of Exhibitions and Environmental Education of the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden.

The purpose of the working group is to combine the good practices of different museums and make proposals that would help Estonian museums become as environmentally conscious as possible, setting an example for visitors and other institutions. In cooperation with the Stockholm Environmental Institute Tallinn Centre, the working group developed a Green Museum certificate that Estonian museums can apply for.
